Trash Collection
We have a private refuse company picking up our rubbish: All trash chutes are open 24-7
-
Large items need to be physically taken to the refuse bin on the first floor.
-
Do not leave items in the trash room floor.
Recycling can be done on your own:
The City has rather stringent rules for the recyclables:
Corrugated cardboard (not cereal box type), glass bottles & jars, plastic
containers (#1 or 2), newspapers - but not the glossy inserts. For information
on recyclable materials visit: www.opala.org.
Bulky Items Pickup
The City and County of Honolulu is responsible for bulky item pick-up at Makiki Park Place. Pick-up for Makiki Park Place is scheduled for the 2th Wednesday of each month.
The City requires your bulky items to be out at the curb before 6 a.m. that Wednesday. Though the City allows themselves several days for pick-up, they will often not pick up items unless they are placed at the curb by 6 a.m. Wednesday. You may place your items out on the curb the night before, but, please, not before 6 p.m.
Note - The City picks up appliances (refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.) separately from other bulky items. If you notice that bulky items have been picked up from the neighboring property and that your refrigerator is still at your curb, you may want to wait a day or two before calling the City at the number above.
